A GIS (Geographical Information System) is basically a combination of database technology and cartography that captures, stores, analyses, manages and presents data linked to a geographic position.

This tool can be used in a number of ways, for example:
- Visualisation of spatial data,
- Analysis of spatial and non-spatial relationships
- Statistical evaluations,
- Querying
- Efficient data management

MMT has gained extensive GIS experience over the past 10 years for presentation and evaluation of combined survey results and desktop studies. MMT´s area-specific GIS experts are gathered together in our GIS department. Their primary task consists of handling and analysing information from both MMT surveys and third-party data.
Our GIS department members are skilled in the complete ESRI suite of GIS software including ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcInfo, ArcEditor and ArcView as well as software from Autodesk, Wish Software and Safe Software. We also have thorough knowledge of geodatabases such as personal-, file-and geodatabases as well as nd Oracle Standard Edition One.
Our GIS services offer:
- Survey results database, for example utilised during the installation phase of cables or pipelines as well as documentation to be maintained throughout the life-cycle of the marine installation.
- As-laid and as-built documentation, as well as store and compare annual re-survey data, for instance pipeline inspections.
- Visualisation of spatial data in maps.
- Analysis of optimal route planning.
- Data conversions from different sources to be merged in one specified format, enabling easy access, analysis and utilisation.
- Design and administration of large databases containing GIS information.
- GIS delivery to pre-specified data formats allowing easy incorporation into client database. |
