MMT has 30 years of experience in seabed mapping. Our first multibeam echo sounder system was purchased and put into operation in 1994.
We operate hull-mounted Kongsberg multibeam echo sounders, EM710, EM3002D, EM2040D and Reson 7125 to collect high-resolution bathymetry data. MBES transducers are permanently hull-mounted on all of MMT’s survey vessels. “True Heave” from Applanix PosMV320 ensures accurate heave compensation and satellite RTK ensures correct positioning. High-resolution geo-referenced multibeam backscatter data is used to provide determination of the nature of the seabed. We also use Reson 7125 multibeam echo sounders for ROV applications, to provide extremely dense bathymetry data.

We have long experience of bathymetrical and IHO charting projects. We perform hydrographical mapping projects for harbours and dredging purposes, as well as larger mapping projects offshore. Some examples of large-scale projects are surveys for the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the United Kingdom where we operate under a long-term contract as well as projects for the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) and the Norwegian Mapping Authority (NMA). Another example is hydrographical surveys for the future arching of a connection between Denmark and Germany over Fehmarn Belt.

MMT conducts hydrographic surveys in accordance with International Hydrographic
Organisation (IHO) S-44 hydrographic survey standards.
