MMT AB (Marin Mätteknik AB), has recently won a survey contract for hydrographical surveys at Orkney Islands, covering a littoral 260 km2 from Sanday Sound to Westray Firth.

The entire survey area is to be surveyed in accordance with IHO standard first order. MMT AB has previously performed numerous area surveys in Swedish waters using the S44- the Swedish realisation of IHO Standard for Hydrographic Surveys 4th Edition April 1998; Special publication no 44.

“Our larger Scandinavian and worldwide projects allowed us to gain considerable experience in large-scale surveys and quality control. We are very proud that we are once again recognized for our vast experiences and cost efficient high-resolution surveys”- says Ola Oskarsson, CEO at MMT AB (Marin Mätteknik AB).

We will use the MV Ping for the project. The vessel has previously been used in Swedish and Danish waters for a variety of survey tasks, mainly hydrographical and geophysical surveys. The performed surveys have been directly or indirectly for state authorities, such as Swedish Maritime Administration, Swedish Navy and National board of Fisheries with requirements of IHO Standards.

To meet the Maritime and Coastguard Agency requirements, MMT AB will form a Project Group consisting of 4 senior staff members. The assigned Project Manager will be responsible for the project progress and rendering of data. The Charge Surveyor, or Party Chief, assigned for the survey vessel will be overall responsible for the progress of survey operation and the on-board communication with Client representative. Our field team on site consists of 4 persons and the team will establish a field office in the survey area and will liase closely with local fisheries groups and the appropriate local District Fisheries Inspectors well in advance of the commencement of fieldwork. After completed survey operations and data acceptance the remaining processing of data will be performed at home office in Göteborg, Sweden.
