MMT in the Mediterranean

06-10-2014

We are currently performing a detailed cable route survey for the planned Monita cable in the Mediterranean Sea, contracted by Nexans Norway AS.

The Submarine Electrical Interconnector project between Italy—Montenegro is a turnkey project commissioned by Terna Rete Italia S.p.A.  Nexans Norway AS are assigned for the supply and installation of the power cable for the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) link between Italy and Montenegro. The new HVDC link will connect Italy with Balkan and improve the integration of the European countries’ electricity systems.

Our survey and ROV vessel Franklin is used for the cable route survey. The marine survey work includes geophysical survey from an ROV, Cable tracking, Gradiometer survey and ROV probing and geotechnical sampling in shallow to deep waters.

MMT’s Project & Sales Director comments the project in the Mediterranean: “We are very pleased to have been contracted by Nexans for this large project. The survey progress has been well thanks to good conditions, both weather wise and the excellent work from the team onboard Franklin. We continue to gain survey experience in the Mediterranean and working to expand our operations in this region.”
